How to Start a Poll, Q&A, and Whiteboard in Skype for Business Meetings

Using Skype for business can prove to be very beneficial as it enables you to make quick decisions from the comfort of your place. Skype meetings have not only become popular, but it’s achieving a business objective effectively and efficiently.

Skype supports fun segments such as Poll, Q&A, and much more, which shall be discussed below. This mechanism could be used to collect data or cheer the participants, hence proving to be very beneficial for the business.

Note: All these skype tools mentioned above, only come in handy with Windows and not Mac.

The steps to use Poll, Q&A, and Whiteboard in Skype are:

  1. Create a Poll

A poll is conducted when you have a different set of ideas and need a majority opinion. Let’s suppose you have two-to-three plans or strategies to use for your business, but you’re confused regarding the strategy, which will prove to be the best option for you. Also, it is not wise to take individual action without the consent of other employees as they’re also a part of your firm. Poll speaks for itself here, and you can take other’s opinions to come out with a decision that is best for you.

To create a Poll:

  1. Tap on the ‘Present Content’ tab in the meeting window, and click ‘More.’
  2. From the three options, choose ‘Poll.’
  3. You’ll land on a window where you need to put questions and choices for the same.
  4. Tap on the ‘Create’ button once you’re done.

After you create a poll, it’ll pop-up in your meeting window in which each question answered will appear in the form of a percentage.

You can hide the results with the help of the ‘Poll Actions’ button. To stop the Poll, choose ‘Stop Presenting’ on your meeting window.

  • Q&A

A Q&A round can be conducted while you’re in a meeting. All you need to do is, post a question, and anyone interested can reply to the same. A Q&A window will minimize if any other presentations are going on. The steps to start a Q&A round are:

  1. Tap on the ‘Present Content’ tab in the meeting window, and click ‘More.’
  2. From the three options, choose ‘Q&A.’
  3. In the next window, you can type your question and post.
  4. All other participants have to click on the ‘Answer’ button before typing their answers and then tap ‘Send’ to be able to view their responses to other participants.

In the Q&A window, an ‘All’ tab and ‘Unanswered’ tab presents the questions left, if any.

Tap on the ‘Stop Q&A’ tab to stop the session.

  • Creating a New Whiteboard

A Whiteboard is a plain white sheet on which you may type notes, present pictures, etc and share it with other participants. The steps to create a Whiteboard are:

  1. Tap on the ‘Present Content’ tab in the meeting window, and click ‘More.’
  2. From the three options, choose ‘Whiteboard.’
  3. A plain sheet will open on everybody’s screen along with tools like pen, eraser, etc on the right side of the screen.

A Whiteboard can be saved even after the meeting ends. If you switch to another mode, the whiteboard window will be closed by default.

In case you want to access it back, go to the ‘Present’ tab and then ‘Manage Content’ option. The Whiteboard will appear.
